Data + Programming and everything in between
The year is 2020, month June and I have now realised I need to take my tech life more seriously.
In the thick of the pandemic, you know, the COVID-19 one, I remember asking myself
“Nneka, what exactly do you want to do with your life?”
Trust me when I say I did not have the appropriate answer to that question at the time, 2 months later and I have a solid plan for what I want to be doing for the next 5 years at least.
It was Data Science, with my second love Python.
Surprising, I know, in a way, I was not surprised. I had had a test run of what Data science was but right now, I want more than a test run. So here is my plan
THE GRAND PLAN
- Learn the fundamentals of Computer Science, especially the basics of data structures and algorithms
- Brush up on my Python
- Learn the common Python Data Analysis libraries
- Download some dirty data and get my hands dirty with Exploratory Data Analysis
- Statistics and Probability, get this down
- Mathematical concepts in Data Science
- Face the ML beast and slay it
- Learn ML algorithms
On looking at it, as I typed it, I do realise it might seem like a lot, however, with a solid plan and God’s grace, I know I can get this down.
I am writing this as a means of accountability for myself to you.
See you next week with a new story on how Harvard Online’s CS50 course made me question that list and everything in general.
Ciao!
